Reasons to Stay at Altofts Cut


Picnics/BBQ's are allowed inside the secure area on the grass adjacent to the pontoons.

 Water is available from the C&RT tap at Woodnook Lock.  Elsan Cassettes can be emptied at Fairies Hill Facility or you can use the Elsan/Pumpout facilities of C&RT at Castleford and Stanley Ferry.

Car Parking is available nearby at Woodnook Lock.

Rubbish, as at Fairies Hill Moorings, all rubbish is to be disposed of off site.  There are several disposal points nearby, ask at the office for details.

Find Us By Water

From West

Travel East along the canalised section of the Wakefield Branch of the Aire and Calder Navigation passing Stanley Ferry, Berkwood and Kings Road Locks. After clearing Kings Road Lock continue East past Foxholes moorings, go under the M62, Altofts Cut Private Moorings is on the right approximately 100 metres before Woodnook Lock.

From East

Travel West from Castleford Junction along the Wakefield Branch of the Aire and Calder Navigation.  After passing Fairies Hill Moorings enter Woodnook Lock.  Altofts Cut Private Moorings are approximately 100 metres further along on the left.

Find Us By Road

Leave the M62 at Junction 30 - Turn towards Wakefield, in Stanley which is the first built up area you come to turn left towards Stanley Ferry, continue through Stanley Ferry to Altofts - turn left into Foxholes Lane (a Deli Shop is on the Corner).  This is a narrow road so take care. Travel to the end of the road, go over the bridge and turn Right.  Follow the lane for approximately 1 mile (passing under the M62) until you arrive at Woodnook Lock.  Park your vehicle, cross the lock on foot and follow the path to the right.  The entrance to Altofts Cut Private Moorings is approximately 100 metres in front of you.
